NIST Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP)
The national MEP network is funded through the US Department of Commerce's National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and assists small and midsize manufacturing companies by providing products and services designed to help them succeed.  CONNSTEP has successfully leveraged this federal support for more than ten years by administering the cooperative agreement that provides for the MEP center in Connecticut.

MEP nationwide network of resources transforms manufacturers to compete globaly, supports greater supply chain integration and provides access to technology for improved productivity.

In the last two years alone:

  400 Connecticut companies received critical business assistance through CONNSTEP;

  These companies realized a positive economic impact of $565 million to their bottom line in
    increased or retained sales, $19.7 million in reduced production costs and improved employee
    utilization;

  These companies also invested $46 million in new technology; and

  More than 1,687 jobs have been created or retained.
