Energy Reduction Through Kaizen Events and 5S
Attendees of this 30-minute webinar will be provided with the
understanding of how to apply the traditional manufacturing
improvement programs to systematically address energy reduction,
including 5S and Kaizen events. These traditional programs, which
might involve a limited number of people, differ from the classic

TRIZ - The Theory of Inventive Problem Solving
Inventiveness can be learned - it is not dependant on innate
ability. Solutions to the toughest problems can be developed by
employing inventive problem solving techniques.
TRIZ (pronounced - TREEZ) is a Russian acronym for "Theoria Resheneyva Isobretatelshkehuh Zadach" - translated to the "Theory of Solving Problems Inventively." TRIZ is a powerful methodology, based on empirical data, that can provide solution concepts for a wide range of technical and non-technical problems.
The Theory includes a practical methodology, tool sets, a knowledge base, and model-based technology for generating new ideas and solutions for problem solving. It is intended for application in problem formulation, system analysis, failure analysis, and patterns of system evolution.
Join Roy Laun for this 30 minute webinar and learn what TRIZ is, where it came from, how valuable it is for product development and engineering design and how it is expanded into "comparative" tools for more robust design or engineering solutions.

FMEA - Failure Mode Effects
Analysis
Valuable and loyal customers expect reliable, high quality
products. Manufacturers who produce error-free or failure-free
products reduce development time and costs incurred with reworking
of scrap, corrective action or process redevelopment.
FMEA is a structured methodology for both product and process design as it analyzes potential failure modes within a system by the severity and likelihood of the failures.
Successful FMEA activities help a team discover potential failure modes based on past experience with similar products or processes, enabling the team to design those failures out of the system with the minimum amount of effort and resource usage.
During this 30 minute webinar, Roy Laun will provide an overview of FMEA - what it is, where the methodology came from, and most importantly, how you can develop a more robust product and/or product design process using the FMEA methods.

Pull Systems/Kanban
The concept of pull in Lean production means to respond to
the pull, or demand, of the customer. Lean manufacturers design
their operations to respond to the ever-changing requirements of
customers. Those able to produce to the pull of customers do not
need to manufacture goods that traditional batch-and-queue
manufacturers must rely on. The planning for delivery of product to
customers is less troublesome, and demand becomes more stable if
customers have confidence in knowing that they can get what they
want, when they want it.
Kanban is a Japanese word that means "instruction card". Kanbans are manual pull devices that allow an efficient means to transfer parts from one department to another - a Kanban is a signal, such as an empty container returned to the start of the assembly line that signals the need for replenishment of materials to a user.
During this 30-minute webinar, Bill Kirchherr will provide an introduction to the concepts of pull systems and Kanban and illustrate how these tools can benefit your production processes.
