Roy Laun has been with CONNSTEP for more than ten years as a Lean Consultant. Roy specializes in assisting manufacturing companies implement improvements that will lead to better operational and financial performance utilizing contemporary tools, such as Six Sigma and Lean. With a focus on Lean Manufacturing, Roy has been involved in analyzing present operations, making recommendations for improved performance, developing action plans, providing education and supporting implementation for results. He has helped implement many continuous improvement concepts and techniques, such as Toyota Production System (TPS) Lean Manufacturing, Just-In-Time (JIT), Cellular Manufacturing, Kaizen, Total Quality Management (TQM) and Poke Yoke (Mistake Proofing). He has also assisted clients with team building, cellular flow implementation and inventory reduction.

For the past 30 years, Roy has been at varying levels of corporate management and management consulting to manufacturing and engineered products companies in Connecticut and abroad yielding a vast experience with manufacturing processes, such as press room, screw machines, die cast, injection molding, CNC, turning, milling, grinding and miscellaneous machining, finishing/plating and various assembly/packaging operations to mention only a few.

Roy has designed and presented many educational seminars/workshops involving top level executives, middle management and factory floor employees in both union and non-union environments. He utilizes simulations to actively involve the participants in learning how to relate the concepts to actual results. This has led to his successful facilitating of many cross-functional teams in a kaizen environment to solve specific problems that impeded production and eroded the bottom line.

Roy has also assisted numerous clients in Manufacturing, Engineering, Production, Industrial Engineering and Production/Inventory Control optimization applying "hand-on" principles for rapid results.

Roy graduated with a BS in Engineering from The University of Hartford with a concentration in
Mechanical Engineering. He was awarded a Master of Science Degree in Engineering from Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute. He also has an MBA from the University of Hartford (Barney School of Business) in Operations Management.  Roy is a NIST certified instructor, member of ASQ and holds a lean bronze certification with SME.
