David Long, Quality Services Consultant

Dave Long has been with CONNSTEP for the past eleven years. His current role covers all Lean activities, from conducting Lean awareness training sessions to leading Kaizen events at manufacturing facilities. As a certified trainer through the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), he has conducted manufacturing seminars covering Value Stream Mapping, Lean awareness, continuous improvement, quality management solutions, 5 S and Kanban signals. Dave is also the CONNSTEP, Inc. Quality Systems Consultant, Lean manufacturing specialist, and a certified Training Within Industry (TWI), Instructor and ISO internal auditor.

Dave served as a Business Development Manager at CONNSTEP for several years, where he was responsible for sales and business development in the Northwestern region of Connecticut. He provided consulting services to the CONNSTEP clientele of small to midsized manufacturing companies to improve process performance, increase top line growth and reduce operating expenses.

Prior to joining CONNSTEP, Dave was the Assistant Government Programs Manager for the Interspiro Group of Stockholm, Sweden, a manufacturer of breathing apparatus for firefighting services, commercial diving apparatus and military special services. During his tenure with Interspiro Group, Dave led a contract negotiation team that resulted in the company being awarded the largest award to date for breathing apparatus for the United States Air Force and the Military Sealift Command. He also performed as the Director of Quality for the U.S. operations of the Interspiro Group, leading the company to ISO 9002 certification within six months, and ISO 9001 certification six months later, with no outside assistance.

Dave attended Southern Connecticut State University and is a retired Connecticut Air National Guard Master Sergeant/First Sergeant.
