Norman Schaefer, Manager of Business Services

Norman Schaefer joined CONNSTEP in the Summer of 2011 as the Manager of Business Services. In his role, Norman is responsible for directing the service areas of Lean, Sustainability, and Quality with an increased focus on the quality of delivered services, strategic business growth and the development of new products and services.

Norman brings over a wealth of experience from his time with Gerber Scientific where he served as the Executive Director of New Product Development and as the Executive Director of Gerber Business Systems. There he developed industrial equipment, led the efforts of an enterprise wide Lean transformation and the led the development of a quality management system.

Early in his career, Norman was recruited by Jacobs Vehicle Systems where he was immersed within a Just-in-Time manufacturing and Toyota Production Systems environment. In his role for JVS, Norman was responsible for the light/medium duty engine brake business with Cummins and Chrysler Corporation. In addition to his automotive experience, Norman served as the Engineering Manager of medium-sized Hydrogen Generators for Proton Energy Systems.

Mr. Schaefer earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology from Central Connecticut State University.
